Let’s be honest: the phrase “Me-time” usually sounds a bit silly.
For people who work hard, it can feel like a waste of time. It sounds like something you do when you’ve given up. For our Viking guest, a man who has been “on” for a thousand years, the idea of “self-care” just didn’t make sense.
But this afternoon, our cameras caught a total change.
Status Report: The Hot Tub
(Notes taken while the steam made it hard to see)
The Vibe: Our guest is sitting in 40°C water. His shoulders, which used to be up by his ears, have finally dropped. He looks like a person instead of a statue.
The Toy: He is currently sharing the tub with a small, yellow, plastic duck. He hasn’t moved for twenty minutes. He’s just… floating.
The Look: That “angry” face he usually has? It’s gone. He looks surprised. It’s like he’s realizing the world doesn’t stop just because he took a break.
Rest Isn’t “Soft”
We often act like resting is a weakness. We think it’s only for people who don’t have things to do.
But our friend is teaching us that resting is actually smart.
Think about it: an engine that never stops will eventually burn out. A sword that stays in the fire too long will break. Our guest isn’t in the tub because he’s “gone soft.” He’s in there because he wants to stay strong for the long run.
Even the toughest people need a moment with a rubber duck.
The Viking is almost ready to head back out. Are you?
